Learning Objectives

After completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Develop a systematic management plan to reduce risk factors in patients with pre-diabetes, abdominal obesity, dyslipidemia and other metabolic syndrome criteria.
  2. Apply various therapies to treat patients with metabolic dysfunction and reduce their individual risk factors in the context of primary prevention
  3. Assess which novel markers may be clinically significant and how they may be included in risk assessment in practice to identify more treatment-eligible individuals
  4. Compare and contrast the effectiveness of available risk assessment instruments and markers in predicting lifetime CV risk in all popular groups
  5. Evaluate the data concerning the possible use of hs-CRP and apoB in predicting CVD risk
